Will you return?
(An adaption from "To his Coy Mistress" by Andrew Marvell)
- by Melvin Tan

Had we but world enough, and time,
Taking my stride would be so fine.
We could lie asunder till the gang seas run dry,
Whilst I stare at you in utmost adoration.
We could brace the end of time,
Whilst I hold you in deep embrace.
My love for you would grow,
Way more vast than the universe holds.
And for the hundreds of years to come,
My love for you will blossom,
Till the Sun dies out and the Earth runs cold.
If a millenia it takes,
A millenia it shall be,
Whilst I wait in determination,
For the day to come,
Where you'll be with me.

However, time's always running on,
For at my back I always hear
Time's winged chariot hurrying near.
A human we be,
A human we are.
Your beauty shall no more be found,
Nor, in the marble vault, shall sound
My sincere voice.

Now therefore, while the youthful hue
Sits on thy skin like morning dew,
And while thy willing soul transpires
At every pore with instant fires,
Now let us not waste the opportunity we have,
And cherish every moment we share,
For when you're soaring to greater heights,
I'll be waiting alone down below
For the day you soar back to me.

I AM
-By Melvin Tan

I am:
An unborn fetus,
A neglected child,
A hunting tiger,
A hidden alligator,
An imprisoned criminal,
A caged bird,
A shipwrecked sailor,
A secluded isle.
Loneliness personified.
